Meet the Doctors

  • Dr. Gina Cottle is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK and corneal transplantation. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has completed additional fellowship training in the fields of Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery. She is an active speaker in the fields of cataract surgery, dry eye disease and corneal disorders.

    Dr. Cottle is a native of Texas. She completed her undergraduate education at Bucknell University, her Ophthalmology Residency at the Medical College of Virginia, and she completed a Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at Eye Consultants of Atlanta and Emory Vision Correction Center, where she learned from some of the most experienced refractive surgeons in the world. Dr. Cottle was in private practice in Atlanta, Myrtle Beach and Birmingham, Alabama. It was during these years that she had the opportunity to fine-tune her surgical abilities. She has been performing cataract, corneal and refractive surgery since the year 2000. She offers a wide selection of premium intraocular lenses and laser assistance for her cataract surgery patients, to accommodate a variety of lifestyles. She offers the most technologically advanced procedures for LASIK eye surgery. She has extensive training in corneal disorders and performs the most minimally invasive transplantation procedures. She also offers corneal crosslinking for the treatment of keratoconus, and she is an expert in dry eye disease. Dr. Cottle was the first surgeon in Texas to perform the Implantable Miniature Telescope for advanced macular degeneration after the FDA approved the device in 2011.

    Dr. Cottle is excited to be able to offer advanced technology and quality patient care to her community and surrounding areas. She enjoys the ability to help patients become free of glasses or contact lenses and to improve their quality of life through better vision. In her free time, Dr. Cottle enjoys spending time with her family of six, enjoying the outdoors, listening to live music and taking in the various cultural events around town.

  • Dr. Heather Broyles is a fellowship trained ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. She provides patients with improved vision using leading surgical and refractive techniques, including DMEK, DSEAK and LASIK. She is also skilled in the latest technology for cataract surgery, including laser-assisted cataract surgery and implantation of a variety of intraocular lenses. She is committed to providing the Austin community expert care through a compassionate approach that puts the patient’s needs first.

    Dr. Broyles received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she served as captain of the Texas Cheerleading squad – she remains a true Texas Longhorn fan to this day. After earning her M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of North Texas, she completed medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, where she graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Broyles then completed her internship at John Peter Smith County Hospital, and her ophthalmology residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she was elected Chief Resident. Her commitment to education earned her the Resident of the Year Award, the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award and the University of Arkansas College of Medicine Dean’s MVP Award. Her work is published in several prestigious Ophthalmology journals and she has presented at several Ophthalmology conferences, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. After residency, Dr. Broyles pursued advanced training in corneal and refractive surgery through a fellowship program at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. While in fellowship, she received extensive hands-on medical and surgical experience with some of the world’s most renowned corneal surgeons.

    Dr. Broyles combines her compassionate nature with her love for travel in order to participate in medical mission trips. Her favorite of which was a surgical mission trip to Honduras where she restored vision for dozens of local residents. She looks forward to continue serving in Honduras and through other mission organizations around the globe. She is ecstatic to be back in Austin and serve the great people of this diverse community. In her free time, she loves to stay active through group fitness, yoga, and weight lifting, and enjoys spending time with her friends and family at UT sporting events and live music shows.
